THE GREAT OUTDOORS INITIATIVE 2024-25 has been “scrapped” Says tampa bay times environmental journalist, Max Chesnes. THIS means as of this current year, 2024, there won’t be any moves made by desantis or his agencies to add the “resort style” elements previously proposed to fl residents.
COngratulations 2 everyone who did their part :) our state parks are safe FOr now!!!!

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (fDEP) Announced THE GREAT OUTDOORS INITIATIVE 2024-25, WHICH MEANS major changes to NINE State Parks throughout Florida. The DEP plans to add "resort style" elements (hotels, golf courses, pickleball courts, etc) to our otherwise beautiful, natural parks. They have decided all of this within weeks and ORIGINALLY only GAVE us residents ONE WEEK to voice how we feel. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (fDEP) HAS RESCHEDULED THE ORIginally announced public meetings on 8/27/2024 @3pm to the week of september 2nd!!! They made this change due to the overwhelming response from florida residents.
This means it’s working, they are hearing us.
more information about the newly announced meetings will be updated once established by the fdep.
